Three ways to install
The same eSIM, redeemed three different ways. Pick whichever matches the devices in your hand.
Scan the QR code
Open your order page on a laptop or a second phone, then scan it with the phone that will use the eSIM. A phone cannot scan a QR code shown on its own screen.
Tap the install link
Open your order page on the iPhone itself and tap "Install on this iPhone". iOS hands the code straight to the eSIM installer. Older iPhones should use the manual details instead.
Type it in manually
Every phone lets you enter the eSIM details by hand. Your order page shows exactly the values your phone asks for, with copy buttons next to each.
What the code is made of
An eSIM activation code isn't a password — it's an address plus a one-time ticket. Every field below is on your order page with a copy button next to it.
rsp.example-carrier.comThe server your phone downloads the eSIM profile from. Looks like a web address, without "https://".K2-1LS-1P0RRRQThe one-time code that identifies your specific plan. Some phones call this the "matching ID".LPA:1$rsp.example-carrier.com$K2-1LS-1P0RRRQThe two fields above joined together — this is literally what the QR code contains. Many Android phones accept this single line.8910300000123456789Your eSIM's serial number. You never type this during setup, but quote it if you contact support. An eSIM can only be installed once. If you delete it from your phone, the code can't be reused — don't remove the plan until you're finished travelling.
Entering the code by hand
The path differs slightly by manufacturer, but the fields are always the same.
- 01 $Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service) → Add eSIM
- 02 $Tap Use QR Code, then Enter Details Manually
- 03 $Paste the SM-DP+ Address into the first field
- 04 $Paste the Activation Code into the second field
- 05 $Leave "Confirmation Code" blank and tap Next
- 06 $Label the plan, then choose which line is default for data
- 01 $Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM
- 02 $Tap Need help? or Enter it manually when the scanner opens
- 03 $Paste the full activation string (the LPA: line)
- 04 $If asked for two separate fields, use the SM-DP+ address and activation code
- 05 $Confirm the download and wait for the profile to install
- 06 $Turn on the new line and enable Data Roaming for it
On Samsung the path is Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. On Pixel it's Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Download a SIM instead. Install over Wi-Fi before you leave — the profile download needs a connection, and your plan's validity starts once the eSIM first connects at your destination.
Works with most modern phones
iPhone XS and newer, Google Pixel 3+, Samsung Galaxy S20+, and many more devices support eSIM.
Before you fly
Install before you fly
Set up your eSIM while you still have Wi-Fi at home, before you lose signal on the way to the airport.
Keep both SIMs active
Use your regular SIM for calls and texts. Set the eSIM as your data line for internet abroad.
Enable data roaming
Don't forget to turn on data roaming for your eSIM line — it's required for it to work abroad.
